What’s the mortality rate of Australian livestock on their way to overseas destinations?

The Australian Government reported that in 2019 there was an average mortality rate of 0.10% for cattle and 0.25% for sheep across all sea voyages. These rates are down on the 2018 levels, which were 0.12% for cattle and 0.53% for sheep.

These rates are below the threshold for mortalities on each voyage, set by the regulator through the Australian Standards for the Export of Livestock: 0.5% for cattle and 1% for sheep.
