The Australian Animal Welfare Certification System (AAWCS) min read

The Australian Animal Welfare Certification System (AAWCS) was established in 2013 and is an independently audited certification program.

It is used by livestock processors to demonstrate commitment to best practice animal welfare and that the livestock have been humanely processed.

AAWCS accredited facilities include more than 80 percent of cattle and sheep processed in Australia. From 2026, the AAWCS standards will require mandatory use of video surveillance systems ensuring the humane treatment of livestock throughout processing of livestock.
