Low-risk classification for Australia under the EUDR

On 22 May 2025, the European Commission  classified Australia as a low-risk country (Country Classification List) under the EUDR.

Under the EUDR, certain products (including beef) for export to the EU will have to prove that the land has not been subject to deforestation or forest degradation since 31 December 2020.

Australian cattle producers need to provide their geolocation so EU importers can verify that no deforestation occurred on the land where the animal was raised.

The geolocation data is captured through the Livestock Production Assurance Program and links individual animal identification in the National Livestock Identification System database. Geolocations are provided by exporters to EU importers to meet the EUDR requirements.
